Pregnancy Calendar Women
of Uzbekistan marry young and often have no access to resources about
prenatal
health care in their language.
This is the primary cause of Uzbekistan's high infant mortality
rating.
This translation of The Miracle of Life pregnancy calendar is being used to train
village leaders and maternity nurses to educate expectant mothers in prenatal health.

| Special Needs Orphan Care
Project. Through employing
therapists, a doctor and teachers and trained volunteers, MRDS
has assisted improving the daily care of special needs orphans
in the Muruvaat Orphanage in Uzbekistan. In 2004 we provided an
average of 28 additional caregivers for the 250 children at the
facility. The program seeks to help the children reach their
full potential physically, emotionally, mentally and
spiritually. Without this program many children would never
have the attention they need to learn to sit up, talk or walk by
themselves. The trained employees give basic care, teach life
skills, provide primary education, and various types of
therapies. They also encourage and help families in dealing
with their special children either at the orphanage or in their
own homes. Click on
