In the Caucasus region of Eurasia, Georgia sits between Eastern Europe and Western Asia.  It is truly an international crossroad, with the Black Sea on its west, Russia on the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south and Azerbaijan on its eastern border.  Georgia was incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1922, independence was restored in 1991.
