Here is some information
about our management and professional staff. To minimise costs
within Indonesia, all of our foreign staff are seconded to SNT by
way of external NGOs. |
Denny R Kussoy,
SPd, MA,
MBA
Indonesian
SNT Director, Chairman of the
Board
|
|
| Denny's
first involvement with SNT was as the director of our
micro-credit programme, TIASA.
Besides
being equipped with a very creative mind, a variety of previous
experience in a number of fields and a willingness to direct his
attention toward the complex issues of poverty alleviation and
community organisation, Denny also brings a concern for humility to
the community development task, a fact which allows him to dive
straight in and tackle perplexing community problems side-by-side
with local area leaders.
Denny believes this ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ component to be
the key factor in duplicating SNT’s potential in other
regions of Indonesia. |

Lindy D Backues
BES, MDiv,
MSc, PhD
American
SNT Coordinator, Senior
Programme Design Consultant, Community Development Consultant
|
 |
|
Lindy has had prior involvement in the design and
implementation of community development projects both in Bali and in
Bandung, West Java, and it is that experience which he has brought
to our programme in Tasikmalaya. In addition, he nurtures a keen
interest in inducing integration of the best in development theory
with on-site, grass-roots development practise — with the hope that this will result in a greater
understanding and appreciation of local resources and local
community aspirations. Lindy has also had extensive teaching
experience in the USA, the UK, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia,
all of which has been undergirded by a two-year tethering to the
Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), positioned in
Tasikmalaya as a field-based researcher.
He is now seconded to SNT, as an economic and community development
design consultant and practitioner, through Millennium
Relief and Development Services (MRDS) in the
USA.

Director of Administration

began working for SNT as a community health worker in
SNT's health unit (HAG), but her abilities in
administration were quickly recognised, resulting in a move across
to TIASA as Head of Accounting. A winsome and humble spirit,
coupled with an ever-present willingness to learn, have all combined
to contribute a great deal in the over-all deepening of SNT's
work. She has recently taken up her current role as Director
of Administration for the entire NGO, overseeing the Finance
Department, the Accounting Department and the Human Resource
Development
Department. |

Christie Arrieta, BSc
American / Filipino
Primary Healthcare Consultant,
HAG Project Leader
|
 |
|
Based upon her extensive involvement in health care
delivery in both the Philippines and in the United States — augmented by
over 2 years previous involvement on the Indonesian island of Lombok
—
Christie now focuses the bulk of her attention upon primary
health care training as part of SNT's Health Assistance Group
(HAG). With her knowledge of health delivery systems,
and her own personal understanding of Asian contexts, Christie
brings to us a valuable perspective in our efforts to improve health
care in the Tasikmalaya region.
She is seconded to SNT, as a primary
healthcare consultant,
through Millennium Relief and Development Services
(MRDS) in the USA.

Asep Kurniawan, SE
Indonesian
Director of TIASA
|
 |
| While
running a micro-credit programme can be a daunting
task, fortunately this sort of work is not entirely new for
Asep — in
fact, he first became involved in our work here at SNT as one
of TIASA's
pioneering loan fund consultants. Thus,
as a consultant on the ground —
working
closely with local would-be entrepreneurs in the start-up and
augmentation of their micro-enterprises
—
Asep
knows what it means to nurse hopes and dreams into reality. It
is this knowledge and ground-level empathy he brings to the
directorship of TIASA: an intimate awareness of how the
programme works, right from the bottom
up!

Robert J
Tyrrell
Australian
Agricultural Development Consultant, TEPAT Project
Leader |

|
|
Brought up on a farm, Rob went straight from high
school into the building trade, where he became an experienced
carpenter. This combination of both farming and building experience
ideally suits him to his role in TEPAT as a consultant in
agriculture and appropriate technology.
Prior to coming to Indonesia, Rob was involved in
travels to a number of Pacific islands, primarily in relation to
emergency relief and rescue projects. He has also studied for
certificates in primary health care and in Teaching English as a
Second Language (TESOL).
He is now seconded to SNT, as an agricultural
development consultant and
practitioner, through Millennium Relief and Development
Services (MRDS) in Australia.

American
Community Development
Consultant, Handykrafts Project Leader, TIASA Board Member |

Leanne's combination of studies and work experience
in business and economic/community development enables her to
contribute to various units in SNT. After completing
her post-graduate studies, she was involved in micro-credit projects
with the NGO World Concern in the country of
Bangladesh. She also brings to SNT previous experience
in starting a business, a fact which affords her insight into the
challenges faced by those local would-be entrepreneurs she is
seeking to assist.
Leanne is now seconded to SNT, as an economic and community development
consultant and practitioner, by way of Millennium Relief
and Development Services (MRDS) in the USA.
